Must be a graduate of a Perfusion program. All Perfusionist will be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. Those perfusionists hired after January 3, 1989, that are not certified must achieve certification within two years of being employed while starting the certification process as soon as possible after employment. Perfusionist working at CAMC prior to January 3, 1989 that are not certified will not be expected to become certified until such time that the profession requires it. These actions are driven by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, the American Society of Extra-Corporeal Technology, or the Joint Commission of Hospitals or any other regulatory agency carrying proper jurisdiction. Continual re-certification is mandatory and necessary record-keeping involving re-certification is the responsibility of the Perfusionist. Incumbents traveling on behalf of CAMC will do so as representatives of the CAMC perfusion department and conduct themselves accordingly. Incumbents will become members of professional organizations and complete all certification processes as required by the department.
