Summary

  • Basic Description
    • Initiate and coordinate the clerical processes and perform direct patient care activities, procedures, and other indirect services under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs monitoring, interpretation, documentation and equipment maintenance on applicable units.

    • Degree / Education
      • High School Diploma/GED
      • AND
      • Formalized Training HUC
      • OR
      • Formalized Training MEDASSIST
    • Level of Experience
      • 6 months Related Experience (Can include Med Assist or Medical Terminology)
    • Lic./Cert./Reg.
      • All licensure must be current/valid and from the state of West Virginia.
      • Basic Life Support - Must be certified within 30 days of hire.
    • Typing/Word Processing skills required for this position
    • Computer Skills required for this position

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

      • Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
    • Minimum Requirement Comments
      • INTERNAL HUC EMPLOYEES without EKG interpretation skill set will be eligible to transfer to an EKG interpretation unit HUC position. The employee will be enrolled in the next available approved educational opportunity, and will be required to successfully pass the EKG interpretation competency and exam within five (5) months of transfer.
