  • Basic Description
    • Candidates will be responsible for answering for inter-facility transports of patients from various facilities. Candidates will arrange transportation via ground ambulances and air transport, utilizing WVOEMS crew configuration standards. Utilization of a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to accomplish the tasks is essential.
  • Specialized Knowledge, Experience and Skills

    • Degree / Education
      • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Level of Experience
      • Two years field experience
      • Two years communication center experience
      • Two years of experience as a call dispatcher
    • Lic./Cert./Reg.
      • All licensure must be current/valid and from the state of West Virginia.
    • Typing/Word Processing skills required for this position
    • Computer Skills required for this position

    • Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)
      • The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

      • Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
    • Minimum Requirement Comments
      • Candidates must develop familiarity with the scope and content of local EMS programs and should develop familiarity with the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of regional pre-hospital providers. Employment requires completion of training program on the use of specific communications equipment in the communication center. Candidates must have excellent communication and speech skills.

        EMT or EMD Certifications are a plus but not required.
