Summary

  • Basic Description
    • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of Level A and B (see comments section for explanation of levels) equipment, and assist in maintaining higher level equipment in a manner that will ensure optimum efficiency and safety for the protection of patients, staff, and visitors.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

      • Requires an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Biomedical Engineering or graduated from a technical school specializing in electronics. Preventative Maintenance: LEVELS A = Simple Electromechanical, Simple Electronic, Simple Pneumatic: suction pumps, otoscopes, POC carts, minor laboratory equipment, light sources, leg exercisers, electronic thermometers, minor electronic devices, etc. LEVELS B = Electromechanical, Electronic, Pneumatic: treadmills, blood warmers, patient warmers, scd pump, general laboratory equipment, traction units, infusion devices, fetal monitors, radiant warmers, ultrasound units, humidifiers, non-invasive blood pressure monitors, EKG carts, stress test systems, physiological monitors, pulse oximeters, etc. LEVELS C = Complex Electromechanical, Complex Electronic, Complex Mechanical and Complex Pneumatic: Hypo/hyper therapy units, physiological monitoring systems, electrosurgical units, monitor/defibrillators, diagnostic ultrasound units, pacemakers, gas blenders, complex laboratory equipment, etc.LEVELS D = Ultra-Complex Electronic Pneumatics, Ultra-Complex Electronics, and Ultra-Complex Electromechanical: anesthesia machines, anesthesia vaporizers, invasive/noninvasive vents, tourniquets, infant incubators, etc. Corrective Maintenance: LEVELS A = Simple Electromechanical, Simple Electronic, Simple Pneumatic: suction pumps, otoscopes, POC carts, minor laboratory equipment, electronic thermometers, minor electronic devices, etc. LEVELS B = Electromechanical, Electronic, Pneumatic: treadmills, blood warmers, patient warmers, scd pump, general laboratory equipment, , infusion devices, fetal monitors, radiant warmers, ultrasound units, humidifiers, non-invasive blood pressure monitors, EKG carts, physiological monitors, pulse oximeters, etc. LEVELS C =  Complex Electromechanical, Complex Electronic, Complex Mechanical and Complex Pneumatic: Hypo/hyper therapy units,  physiological monitoring systems, electrosurgical units, monitor/defibrillators, stress test systems, diagnostic ultrasound units, Holter systems,   pacemakers,  gas blenders, complex laboratory equipment, traction units etc. LEVELS D = Ultra-Complex Electronic Pneumatics, Ultra-Complex Electronics, and Ultra-Complex Electromechanical: anesthesia machines, anesthesia vaporizers, adult/infant vents, tourniquets, infant incubators, etc.
