Summary

  • Basic Description
    • Apply principles of accounting (GAAP) to prepare and maintain records of financial transactions. Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports (i.e. detailed accounting analysis/reconciliations, trial balances, financial statements, presentations, etc.). Establish, interpret and analyze complex accounting records of financial statements. These may include general accounting, costing or budget data. May specialize in one or more functional areas such as grants accounting, restricted fund accounting, revenue cycle, accounts payable, etc. Examine, analyze and interpret accounting records for management. Assist specialist in coaching employees. Provide high quality support service to all levels of management.

    • Degree / Education
      • Bachelor Degree Accounting
    • Level of Experience
      • 2+ years accounting operations or financial reporting (preferably in healthcare)
      • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), taxation practices, and strong understanding of internal control practices.
    • Lic./Cert./Reg.
      • All licensure must be current/valid and from the state of West Virginia.
    • Typing/Word Processing skills required for this position
    • Computer Skills required for this position
      • Microsoft Office Applications and accounting application software.

      • Bachelor Degree in Accounting plus a Masters in Accounting or related field OR CPA with 1 year related accounting experience (preferably in healthcare) may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 2 years accounting or financial reporting experience OR Bachelor Degree in related field 5 years experience with at least 2 years in the Accounting Financial Reporting Dept at CAMC.

      • The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

    • Minimum Requirement Comments
      • Successful completion of an accountant test is required.
      • Must have an understanding of accounting principles, tax law, and internal controls. Position requires a thorough understanding of subsidiary ledgers [and related software interfaces] and how they interact and/or affect other ledgers/accounts.
      • Must have demonstrated decision-making and conceptual thinking skills involving accounting & financial reporting subject matters which impact the organization as a whole. Must have demonstrated ability to give appropriate level of attention to detail/accuracy.
